We would appreciate that before the morning classes, the yoga room serve as a silent space, for those who would like to sit a little before class.
Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
We will be learning and chanting this mantra daily. In my experience, the mantra means so much more when you know what it means, or why you are doing it. For some you not familiar with the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra here is a little insight into mantra and its significance.

Money & Exchange
The best exchange rate is with your bank card, changing your dollars to Euros will cost you more than taking money out of ATM’s. We suggest exchanging some in the states, and some when you arrive. If you decide to exchange your money at an ATM, do so at the airport. Most machines only allow you to withdraw about 300 Euros at a time. And because we will be most of the time in the countryside, there may not be many cash machines available.
Remember that the remainder of your payment to YogAriege is due upon arrival in Euros; we do not accept credit cards, or personal checks.
Sustainable, Conscious and Green Community Living
At YogAriege we try to consider every footprint that we leave on these grounds and we hope you would consider the same while you are part of our community.
Some things to take into consideration and do your part are:
1.Water- Think about turning off the water when you are brushing your teeth, don’t take long showers
2.Turn the lights off when leaving your rooms, or not using them.
3.If you have empty bottles, we have recycling space.
4.Composting- we will be composting our leftover food, for next years garden.
The Ariège region is nestled in the Pyrenees, next to Andorra. It is one of the least populated, most preserved regions of France. The people have maintained not only their land but their traditions. During your stay we will visit a few of its breathtaking rural areas.
Sacred Land: Montsegur &
The Cathars
The region endured sieges, massacres and the Inquisition during the bloody Albigensian crusade in the 12th and 13th centuries. The spiritual movement called catharism developed in reaction to the corruption and disarray of the Church at that time. In stark contrast to the worldly, dissolute clergy of the era, the Cathars followed a rigorous interpretation of the gospels, with the most pious of the believers, called "Perfects", taking vows of poverty and celibacy and refusing to eat meat. It was their belief in dualism, however, that outraged the Church. We will visit some parts of these sacred lands. Plan on a leisure hike up Montsegur to the ruins of the chateau, with a breathtaking view.
French Culture in the Ariège Department
Mirepoix
The cooking term, mirepoix, is mixture of diced carrots, onions, and herbs used to flavor sauces or for braising meats. It was named after the 18th century Duke of this area, whose cook is apparently credited with this technique. We will visit this open air traditional market where you can find freshly picked forest mushrooms, home grown produce even antiques, clothing, wine and trinkets. You could hear the sounds of musicians playing in the surrounding cafes.
Coteaux d’Engraviès Local Vinyard
The wines of the Ariége are virtually unknown and unheard of outside the local area. We will visit a local bio (organic) vignoble and listen to the stories of Monsieur Babain, his grapes and the art of wine making.
